What’s your position on “Medicare for All”? Or at least how would you like to see our healthcare system changed?

If we let the government have the tax money, how do we know all that extra tax money is actually going to health? And I know for a fact it all won't go to what we're paying for.

@whysprs that is not instance. If you don't go to the doctor very often. You 15.000.00 out of pocket will never be met.

Medicare for all. Will drive physicians to get out of practing medicine. There is a shortage of doctors as it is. . Some are already refusing to accept Medicare insurance. The doctors are saying it's not worth being a provider for Medicare. Medicare is the only insurance that the doctors have to wait 2 to 3 months to get paid. A doctor will get paid $17.00 dollors on a 120.00 charge. Medicare denies every 5th claim. They do that on purpose. They count on it being overlooked. Or will sit on someone desk waiting for documents they ask for. Once you are getting paid more often. They deny...deny. Medicare insurance has highest in denials.
      Its a game!

I live in Ontario so my voice doesn't count, but I supported Bernie 2016, and I am completely satisfied with the Ontario health care system. Okay, the mental health system is terrible, wait times can suck, but for all general needs I don't have to worry at all. Perhaps Alberta's 2-tier system would be better for those who want to pay for speedy service, but I don't share Stephen's bad opinions on Canafian health care, and I dont see why it's not a good starting point for 'merica.

America has the highest life expectancy if you factor out infant mortality and car accidents.

It is true that USA is nr 1 when it comes to creation of new drugs and publication of medical research paper. However it's not number one when it's adjusted to population. Let's compare two countries. United States and Finland. USA has 350 million citizens. Finland has 5,5 million citizens. If every person in Finland from those who where born yesterday to those who will turn 100 tomorrow would work as a medical researcher Finland wouldn't be able to keep up with medical research in USA. If you would look at how the medical research published in a country normalized for the countrys population then United States would no longer be nr 1 - It would be nr 9. It's very intellectually dishonest of Stephen Crowder not to mention this. Switzerland is nr 1 in medical research by the way.

@StevenCrowder I love your show! I paused this @:36 BECAUSE I just thought of a NOT horrible option that might be of help to our expensive healthcare issue! I can imagine that this would perhaps be possible to HELP fix our flawed healthcare system: What if there were a way to have a federal ChargeMaster list, one of which every American would have access to read(pamphlet, website, fracking posters in the damn waiting rooms, goodness sake! I am proposing a 100% comprehensive list of every possible medical device, procedure, drug treatments, tests, etc; I propose that they all have a national price ceiling- kind of the opposite of the federal minimum wage. Do you think something like this could perhaps work/ help Americans on a national level? Like, you're still responsible for your own medical bills, and what your insurance(OR lack thereof) won't cover is all on you as the individual. (Pls Correct me if I'm wrong) There is currently a system in place that allows hospitals and doctors the priveledge to charge whatever the hell they want for healthcare encounters. Hell, they grossly overcharge even for the food, soaps($7 for a hotel sized bar of soap?) saline ($2 to make it,$200 on itemized bill?!)
blood (blood, which is usually donated, lol) they can do this due to a "free market" because of the lack of knowledge on the part of the people using the healthcare (yes, even unconscious folks rushed in to The E.R).
The federal ceiling should create some level playing field for every American. It WOULD NOT mean free of charge &/or socialised, because doctors can still be free to earn a healthy living, but to a reasonable extent. And there should be incentives to helping save/improve lives. For such proposed bonuses, quantifiably measure their patients becoming healthier(i.e. patients' cancer in remission, losing weight, quitting smoking, lowering "bad" cholesterol levels, etc... that way it's still quite a meritocracy for the healthcare provider to do well at their job. Like any job that offers bonuses, if that med. professional has proof in the numbers, then they, could potentially earn MORE money each year. I'm sure there is a lot more ins and outs to all of this than I am aware of, I'm no hospital director, medical coder & biller, or anthing, but wouldn't this HAVE to help in some way, shape, or form?
So basically, I think there NEEDS TO BE a centralized Chargemaster Ceiling for the country, so it's 100% fair across state lines. HOWEVER, The individual citizen is still responsible for the debts incurred during their healthcare encounter, even so, there should be a 100% fair, transparent rate to pay for every American.
      lol, CHANGE MY MIND 😘

India has medicare for all called "Modicare" and it's great especially for poor and middle class and poor. We don't have to pay extra taxes except for the absolute rich people. I don't know what's wrong with America when it comes to health care. The cost of drugs is insane in USA for example Insulin. Loom at john olivers video on insulin how it's so much expensive than the rest of the world.

Medicare doesn't pay the whole bill, either, so you're still going to have to buy supplemental insurance, or get stuck with 20% or more of the bill.

In Japan you get government insurance for GENERAL check ups, but you HAVE TO pay for it, and typically employers help. For surgeries and emergencies you also have to get a different non government insurance. It´s seems to work fairly well.

                                  1. How are the rest of us going to end up having to pay for this amazing "medicare for all" plan.
                                  2. Have the Democrats ever heard the phrase "There's no such thing as a free lunch"
                                  and lastly
                                  3. Is it like a requirement to become a democratic nominee to down right avoid ever taking any economics classes or did they just get all the economics based memories removed from their brains MIB style?

They know it’s taxpayer, but it would be cheaper from the individual to get it paid by the taxpayer than straight out of pocket. Can you guys please come up with an actual argument? With that in mind, I’m still waiting for you guys to cry that we need to abolish public schools.

I'm in the UK and we have the NHS. Free healthcare seems great, but it comes with so many issues: hospitals are heavily over crowded and there aren't enough beds for patients; in some areas you have to wait weeks for a GP appointment, and months for operations; there aren't enough mental health services. Free doesn't mean better.

I really don't understand their reasoning on this. We already have programs where low wage earners can get Medicaid and hospital bills can be changed based on your earnings. Then, those of us with full time jobs get it through our employer. With their program, you'll be waiting a year for a cancer treatment. Like this would actually hurt people.

I had a pressure pot explode on the left side of my body, ambulance ride tried to take me to the mission hospital, but while they could have taken me, they refused to take me for a 2nd degree burn. So they had to drive me 25-30 min away to the Abbotsford hospital. In the hospital 4 elderly people on beds in the hallway, one guy bleeding holding his own wound waiting for care, and one guy who got in a motorcycle wreck scrubbing his hand(that had bone sticking out) in the feeling sink......that is not good at all.....after 1 hour, the doctor finally came to see me....looked at my arm....gave me 6 pills if 10mg morphine and told me to go home.....Now, the proper treatment for this type of burn is silvadene (if I spelled that right) to prevent any infection.....but no...they gave me opioids and sent me on my way.......that is what socialized medicine is.....it is hell....and when they gave me the morphine, all I could think about is the news cast that was bitching about the opioid epidemic they have in my area......go fucking figure......glad I work in the states, with private American health care....I'll just drive myself across the border next time

It's a failure, but they want to prop it up as something it's not. Remember when all the revelations came out about long wait times and Veteran's dying the Democrat's fought against it. Until it was so overwhelming the number of cases of abuse, they finally backed down and accepted it's failure. But there are some that want to keep that Socialist experiment alive. And they hated it when President Trump started Veteran's Choice. The experiment failed, and they do not like it.

It’s because he horribly misrepresented them and if for example the one criticism he has of the world health organization study doesn’t even exist within it.

In other words, Medicare by its self, does NOT cover everything. If you get rid of private insurance, you will not be fully covered by Medicare.
