Who is suggesting that 4" sewer pipe is 2% grade? Orangeberg was made in WW2 and used because cast iron was needed for the war effort. One eighth is the common grade for any 4" Pipe. Three inch is required to be 1/4 per foot. Self-Scouring or what is lift and drag is accomplished at 1/8 inch per foot in pipe sizes of 4" and larger.

Even a arc welder does not work well in wind. It is better than a mig in wind, but wind will still blow away the shielding gasses produces by the rod coating when arc/stick welding. The old farmer I work for has the same Miller mig welder.

That old pipe was called orangeburg. Its pretty much just tar paper. There is nothing toxic about it, but it didn't last over 50 years.

MIG welding stands for Metal Inert Gas, in other words what Andrew said, its a protective shielding gas that protects the weld. Love your videos man! Keep up the good work!

Murray westenskow That’s why it’s important that that pipe be pitched at 1/4 inch of a drop per foot, that way the liquids and the solids flow the same rate, if it was a little bit steeper the liquids would run past the solids and the solids could get stuck in the pipe

@Andrew Camarata OK - I got that - but there's not enough water in a toilet tank to flush a healthy log from the house to the tank - even with the slope. The water would disperse too fast over that distance. It seems that the residual load in the pipe might freeze as it's left behind. (Just wondering out loud.)
